Kidchella 2026 has ended. The free beachside festival filled the Surfers Paradise Sign from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September. The Crest is 300 metres from Main Beach G:link station, making the tram to Cavill Avenue an easy way to reach that year’s event.
The day had a simple shape: breakfast in Main Beach, tram south, let the children choose from the 2026 programme, then return for a swim.
How to get to Kidchella by G:link tram
The apartments at The Crest are fully self-contained, with a full-size refrigerator, oven, gas cooktop and dishwasher. Breakfast can happen before anyone has shoes on. If the family would rather head out, Tedder Avenue’s cafés are about a two-minute walk away.
From there, Main Beach station was close enough for a pram and small children. The G:link took the parking question out of the 2026 festival day and delivered passengers to Cavill Avenue, the stop recommended by the organiser. Kidchella took place at the Surfers Paradise Sign, 2 Esplanade.
Driving was an option, though the official 2026 listing warned that parking might be limited. The Crest includes one complimentary secure basement space per apartment, so leaving the car there made sense for that visit.
10am to 4pm: make your own circuit
Kidchella 2026 had no entry price and no single headline activity that every family had to queue for first. Its value was the mix.
- Move: live DJ sets, a silent disco, street-style hoops and beach rugby.
- Make: the Art Studio and Glam Bar.
- Try: the skate zone and Ferris wheel.
The programme ran for six hours on both days, but a family visit could be shorter. After 4pm: Main Beach pace
The tram ride north created a clean break between the 2026 festival and the evening. Back at The Crest, there are two heated pools, one indoors and one outdoors. The outdoor pool is kept at 28°C year-round, useful in September when the children still want another swim and the breeze has started to cool.
There is also a spa, sauna, full-sized tennis court and covered BBQ area. None needs a booking or another trip in the car. A separate laundry in every apartment handles wet swimmers and sandy clothes, while the kitchen turns dinner into a quiet end to the day.
Main Beach itself is 350 metres from The Crest. Families who had enough programmed activity could use that Sunday morning for the patrolled sand before deciding whether to return to the festival after lunch.
