Some families spend the whole Schools Cup week courtside. Others have a player travelling with the school, a parent coming to watch the important matches, and a younger child who would be happy to spend most of December in a pool. The Crest suits that second conversation: who is coming, and what will make the trip work for them?
The Australian Volleyball Schools Cup is on the Gold Coast 6–12 December 2026, confirmed in Volleyball Australia’s calendar. Main Beach gives accompanying families a local routine around the competition. There is a kitchen upstairs, two heated pools downstairs and Tedder Avenue about two minutes away on foot.
Choose the size before choosing the finish
A two-bedroom Crest apartment sleeps four and has two bathrooms. That is a useful arrangement for a parent pair and children, or adults sharing the trip with separate sleeping space. The second bathroom matters most when everyone has agreed to leave at the same time and nobody has started getting ready.
Standard Two-Bedroom Apartments retain their original styling. Premium Two-Bedroom Apartments are refurbished. Both include a dishwasher, oven, gas cooktop and full-size refrigerator, plus a washing machine and dryer in a separate laundry. You can choose the finish you prefer without giving up the equipment that makes a week away manageable.
For two adults travelling to support a child who is staying with their school, a one-bedroom apartment may be enough. It has a queen bed, a full bathroom and the same cooking and laundry facilities. Confirm who is sleeping where with the school before booking; an accompanying parent’s accommodation is a separate plan from a student’s supervised team trip.
The car belongs to the court day
Check the organiser’s venue information against your school’s division. Listed venues include Carrara, Coomera and Runaway Bay, and the event schedule also identifies A.B. Paterson. Main Beach is an accommodation choice for the wider holiday, with travel required to the tournament.
One secure undercover parking space comes with each Crest apartment. Keep the day’s destination and reporting time handy, particularly if the family is following more than one team. Ask the school about any shared transport before making assumptions about seats or pickups.
The G:link stop is 300 metres from Crest for trips along the coastal corridor. It does not make all the indoor venues a direct tram journey. Use the Translink planner for a complete public-transport route, or arrange a car or taxi around the fixture list. Allow for the return, not just the first arrival.
When someone has seen enough volleyball
The beach is 350 metres from the building. A walk to the sand or a coffee on Tedder Avenue gives an adult staying behind something to do without borrowing the tournament car. Back at Crest, the outdoor pool is heated to 28°C and there is an indoor heated pool too. A book by the pool can be an entirely respectable day’s plan.
The covered BBQ area offers another way to eat together after the matches. There is also a tennis court, with equipment available for an additional charge. None of these activities needs everyone to have finished their sporting day at the same hour.
Leave the week room to change
Check-in is 2–5 pm. If the drive or flight will bring you in later, arrange after-hours check-in with reception before travelling. Keep checking the official draw as December approaches, then book around the school’s confirmed commitments.
