A long weekend at The Crest can be pleasantly local. The sand is 350 metres away, Tedder Avenue is about two minutes on foot, and there are two heated pools in the building. You can come with a list of outings, but you can also leave the car in its undercover space and see what the morning feels like.
For summer 2026–27, three stretches of the calendar lend themselves to a few nights in Main Beach. Choose the one that suits the people coming, then decide whether the holiday needs a big night out, a family lunch or very little at all.
Christmas: bring the lunch plans with you
25–28 December spans Christmas Friday, Boxing Day Saturday, Sunday and the additional Monday holiday. Christmas Eve is a part-day public holiday, 6 pm to midnight on 24 December. These dates come from the Queensland holiday calendar.
A full kitchen makes bringing the family lunch possible. There is an oven and gas cooktop, a dishwasher and a refrigerator large enough for proper groceries. Shop before the public holidays and check any restaurant opening directly with the business. Tedder Avenue is close, but proximity does not guarantee a shop will be trading on Christmas Day.
For two adults, the one-bedroom apartment has a queen bed and separate living space. A two-bedroom sleeps four, with two full bathrooms and more room for the family to get ready. Standard apartments have original interiors; Premium apartments are refurbished. Every category has its own laundry, so the Christmas swim does not create a suitcase full of damp towels.
New Year: go out south, come back to Main Beach
Friday 1 January 2027 is a public holiday, making a three-day weekend with Saturday and Sunday. Thursday’s New Year’s Eve is a normal working day in Queensland. An arrival before dinner can work well if the travel arrangements allow it.
Crest’s Main Beach tram stop is 300 metres away. Surfers Paradise lies south from here. Use Translink’s journey planner for the night’s services and the return trip, then choose an outing from the official city events calendar. We have not verified the council’s 31 December 2026 fireworks timetable at this October review, so an old year’s early-show time is not a booking promise.
There is no need to make midnight the centre of the stay. A beach morning, lunch on Tedder and a quiet evening at the apartment may suit a couple just as well. The indoor heated pool gives the next day another option if the weather changes; the outdoor pool is heated to 28°C year-round.
Late January: make the leave day explicit
Australia Day falls on Tuesday 26 January. Monday 25 January is an ordinary weekday, so a Saturday-to-Tuesday break needs that Monday off if it is normally a working day for you. Arrange the leave before treating it as four free days.
Families should also check the school calendar. Queensland state students finish on 11 December 2026 and return 27 January 2027, leaving a 12 December–26 January summer break. Education Queensland and its 2027 dates are the references; other schools can differ.

A little arrival organisation, then a slower pace
Reception check-in is 2–5 pm, and after-hours arrivals can be arranged in advance. Check-out is 9–10 am. Plan the drive or flight around those windows and tell reception if the itinerary needs a later arrival.
Choose a Crest apartment for your summer dates. A private balcony, the covered BBQ area and an unhurried walk to the beach are enough to begin with; the rest can wait until the bags are upstairs.
