Gold Coast 500 2026: staying on the edge of the circuit

A 2.96 km street circuit that wraps the building, a four-minute walk to the entry gate, and the Main Beach tram stop inside the perimeter. For the Gold Coast 500, 23 to 25 October 2026, The Crest lets you park on arrival and walk to the racing every day.

Most accommodation listings for race week talk up the view from the balcony. The more useful number at The Crest is four: the minutes it takes to walk from the lobby to the Main Beach entry gate of the Surfers Paradise street circuit. The track’s southern edge runs along Breaker Street past the Tedder Avenue end of Main Beach, which is to say it wraps the building. For the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on 23, 24 and 25 October 2026, that turns the whole weekend into a walk-in.

Four minutes, three days running

Being this close changes how the weekend runs. You are not budgeting an hour each way in race-week traffic or hunting a park that does not exist inside the cordon. You walk out after breakfast, through the marshalled resident gate, and you are trackside. Forget a hat or a jumper for the evening and it is a four-minute round trip to fetch it, not a write-off. Families can split the day, taking a tired kid back for an afternoon nap and rejoining for the evening racing. The Main Beach G:link station sits inside the course perimeter a few hundred metres from the door, so even the far corner of the circuit is a short hop.

The circuit that wraps the building

The 2026 layout is the loop the Supercars have used since 2010, unchanged: 2.96 kilometres, fifteen turns, two chicanes, out along the Esplanade past the beachfront grandstands before it tightens back to the Turn 14 hairpin at the Tedder Avenue end. That hairpin is the nearest point of the track to Main Beach, and the Main Beach entry gate is the one you will use. Cars cannot cross the circuit during sessions, but pedestrian access for residents and guests stays open through the resident gates on the Breaker Street and Cable Street side. Watching from the Esplanade side, Surfers Paradise North station is the cleaner exit; Main Beach station is closest for the hairpin.

Three days, and what a ticket buys

The three days are a settled shape: Friday practice and qualifying (the quiet day, cheaper single-day general admission, room to wander the Gen3 display before the crowds land); Saturday the full support bill and the meeting’s first championship race; Sunday the main event, fireworks and the chequered flag. General admission from AU$76 a day covers the fences with a chair or a blanket; fanstand and grandstand seats from AU$93 a day; the Pit Lane Walk upgrade adds paddock access from AU$30. A word on noise

Worth being straight about: the cars are loud and the track runs from morning to late. Apartments at The Crest face a spread of directions, and some catch more of the circuit than others. Anyone whose weekend hinges on quiet should choose different dates.

The car stays parked

The single best decision for the weekend is not to drive. The G:link runs an expanded race-week timetable, usually posted closer to the date, with Main Beach and Surfers Paradise North bracketing the circuit. If you do bring a car, The Crest gives every apartment one complimentary secure undercover space. Use it once: park on arrival and leave it. Inside the cordon, parking is scarce and the diversions change daily, so the car is worth more sitting still.
