The useful starting point for Groundwater is Main Beach station, 300 metres from The Crest. With the car already in the basement, getting to a Broadbeach music outing can begin with a walk and a tram ride. Breakfast on Tedder fits beforehand.
Groundwater has finished its 2026 run of 16, 17 and 18 October. It made a lively reason to head down the coast, and the organiser lists its next festival for October 2027. Exact days will be published early in 2027. Entry will be free, with the artist announcements still ahead.
1. Have the coffee close to home
Tedder Avenue is around two minutes away on foot. Pick somewhere for breakfast, check the performances you want to catch, then leave enough time to get to the first one without rushing.
Once the new programme is out, choose an arrival around the actual set times. There is no need to travel down at the beginning of the day if the music you came for starts later. A free festival gives you room to make a smaller outing of it.
Check what you need to carry, particularly if you plan to stand outdoors for a while. The organiser’s next accessibility and precinct information will help with choosing a stage and a place to meet anyone travelling separately.
2. Make the tram part straightforward
Walk from Breaker Street to Main Beach G:link and take a service south towards Broadbeach. Use G:link’s current information for the timetable and fares. The festival map will show which stop and onward route make sense for your first performance.
The Crest includes a secure undercover parking space with each apartment. Leaving the vehicle there means you can decide when to come home without first returning to a festival car park. Check the last services you might need before setting out, rather than leaving that job until the end of a set.
If arrival at The Crest is likely to be after reception’s check-in hours, arrange the key-safe instructions ahead. It is easier to get settled first and make the trip to Broadbeach afterwards.
3. Wander once you are there
Groundwater spreads its music through the suburb’s parks, streets and participating venues. You can hear a performance, find lunch and decide what to do next. Popular viewing positions are first come, so give yourself time if being close to a particular artist matters.
Use the festival’s own website for that year’s details. A stage or activity listed in the finished 2026 programme may not feature in the next edition. The new bill is what should shape the outing.
4. Finish on your own side of the coast
Back at Main Beach station, the apartment is a short walk away. The kitchen is useful for a late meal, and the laundry takes care of a full day out. One-bedroom apartments work for a couple; the two-bedroom options sleep four and have a pair of bathrooms.
There is also the following morning to consider. Both Crest pools are heated, with the outdoor pool set to 28°C. A swim, some time in the sauna or another coffee on Tedder can be all the plan you need before checking out.
Compare the accommodation options when the festival weekend is announced. Interiors and outlooks differ between apartments, but the short walk to the tram remains a handy part of the Breaker Street address.
