# The Gold Coast Show 2026: walk to it from Main Beach

Most people arrive at the Gold Coast Show in a car and spend the first half hour looking for somewhere to leave it. From Main Beach you can skip that part. The **Gold Coast Show** takes over Broadwater Parklands in Southport from **28 to 30 August 2026**, and the grounds sit about **2.6 km north of The Crest**, walkable along the foreshore and across the bridge, or a short ride north on the G:link. On a day when the surrounding streets are nose to tail, arriving on foot or on the tram is the quiet advantage of staying here.

## Walk in, or ride the G:link

The flat foreshore route north is a genuine option in the cooler August air, prams and all, and it lands you at the grounds without touching a car park. If you would rather ride, **Main Beach G:link station is 300 metres from the door**, and the tram runs to the **Broadwater Parklands stop**, which sits right at the showground gates. The Show lays on extra services into the evening, so the trip home after the fireworks is an easy one. Driving is the harder way in: the paid Carey Car Park on Marine Parade fills early, and the free three-hour parking at Australia Fair goes just as fast. Simpler to leave the car in your **complimentary undercover space** at The Crest and let the walk or the tram do the work.

## Inside the grounds

Entry is **free**, which is unusual for an event this size and makes even a two-hour wander worth the trip. The year's biggest carnival rides turn in Side Show Alley from **9am to 9pm**, and the Showbag Lawn is the other magnet, where the trick is arriving early enough to still find a Bertie Beetle bag. Around all that runs the agricultural show proper, the wood chop and the equestrian ring and the animal nursery, though half the pleasure is just drifting through with a dagwood dog in hand. **Fireworks close each of the three nights at 6.45pm** over the water. ## Two minutes from Tedder, a swim from the door

The pull of Main Beach for a weekend like this is that the Show is the outing and the rest of the day stays easy. Tedder Avenue is a **two-minute walk** for a proper breakfast before you head north or a long lunch the day you skip the crowds, so no meal has to be a carnival queue unless you want it to be. Back at the building there are **two heated pools**, one indoor and one outdoor at 28°C, both open year-round, which is the right way to wind down after a day on your feet in the sun. Beyond them sit the spa, sauna, tennis court and a covered BBQ deck. The apartments are self-contained, with full kitchens and laundries, so a three-night stay runs on your own rhythm rather than a hotel's.

## Planning the long weekend

The **Friday, 28 August, is Gold Coast Show Day**, a local public holiday, so the whole thing lands as a three-day weekend and books up accordingly. Check-in is from 2pm and check-out by 10am; late check-in is available after hours via a key safe and SMS code if you are arriving on an evening flight.
